Organisatiecanvas: A view of your organisation

A view of your organisation

Organisatiecanvas

Organisatiecanvas is a strategic canvas that captures the essence of your organisation in a single picture: purpose, structure, roles and where the friction originates. As experts in work organisation, we know the recurring challenges: leaders running from crisis to crisis, teams missing a clear goal, pressure on the shop floor rising. The canvas is your guide to innovative organisation (re)design.

With the canvas as guide, we help you evolve to a new way of organising. We redesign structures that bring your operating models to life and make them work. In close collaboration with your management and employees we sketch alternatives, weigh them against your strategic objectives, and support you in executing the implementation plan.

Four organisational questions as course

Designing an organisation follows a logical order. But organisations grow and evolve over time: new departments are added, additional leaders come on board, and before you know it you have a patchwork of structures. That's why it's essential to (once again) pause on four crucial questions:

  1. What must your organisation achieve?
  2. Which kind of organisational structure best fits that?
  3. How do we organise collaboration: departments, teams, or something else?
  4. What does the kind of job - concrete roles and responsibilities - within such a department or team look like?

Each answer flows from the previous one, like a set of matryoshka dolls that fit inside each other.

Structure and culture

In every organisation lies a crucial truth: it consists of both technical and human-centred foundations. The balance between structure and culture - between hardware and software - is what brings organisations to bloom.

The structural dimension focuses on the kind of work performed. The cultural dimension focuses on the people involved: stories, norms, values and behavioural patterns that form the soul of the organisation and connect people to strategic goals.

Together they turn a random group of individuals into a tightly-knit community with a shared vision.
